The iOS app is a native shell around the same chat engine. Every model capability, every project, every setting behaves identically to the web. The native shell adds keyboard handling, offline read-only history, and better background restore than a browser tab.
Install
- App Store: Search “LADLE” on the App Store or open the direct install link from ladle.chat/apps/ios on your iPhone.
- PWA (no App Store): In Safari, open ladle.chat, tap Share → Add to Home Screen. Slightly rougher keyboard handling; otherwise identical.
- iPad: Same App Store binary. Supports Stage Manager and external-keyboard shortcuts identical to macOS.
System requirements
Feature parity with web
Every feature that exists on ladle.chat exists in the iOS app. Chat, projects, files, custom instructions, cited web search, keyboard shortcuts (external keyboard), voice input, share sheet. The only differences are native OS-integration points that only make sense inside iOS.
Native affordances
- Share sheet integration: share text or files from any app to LADLE — starts a new chat with the content attached.
- Focus modes: notifications respect your iOS Focus profile; LADLE doesn’t override.
- Haptics: subtle tactile feedback on message send + response arrival. Off in Settings → Advanced if you prefer.
- Handoff: pick up a chat on Mac or iPad from your iPhone if signed in on both.
Known limitations
- PDF attachments over 20 MB fail at upload; matches the web limit but iOS file-picker doesn’t flag it before sending.
- Voice-to-text uses iOS system dictation; quality varies by iOS version and language.
- Background streaming pauses if iOS backgrounds the app for >5 minutes; the response resumes on foreground.
