Honestly: what comes across, what doesn’t.
Get your data out of Perplexity.
- 01
Settings → Account
Perplexity does not currently offer a bulk data export .zip. Your threads remain accessible in your account until you cancel.
- 02
Copy the threads you want to keep
For each valuable thread: open it, use browser Print → Save as PDF (or copy the content). This preserves the answer + citation chain.
- 03
Extract your AI Profile
Settings → Personalize → AI Profile. Copy the text — this becomes your LADLE Voice Guide seed.
- 04
Note your Spaces
For each Space you use, note name, description, focus, and attached files. You'll rebuild these as LADLE Projects.
Set LADLE up the way Perplexity was working for you.
- 01
Sign up for LADLE, create a default Project
Naming convention: match your Perplexity Space names so muscle memory carries over.
- 02
Paste AI Profile as your Voice Guide
Perplexity's AI Profile is short by design; expand it into 2-3 paragraphs of context + a few writing samples so LADLE can match your register.
- 03
Recreate Spaces as Projects
For each Space: new LADLE Project → same name → attach the same files → paste any focus/instruction text into the Voice Guide.
- 04
Understand LADLE's search model
In LADLE, web search is available but not automatic — you enable it per-question or per-Project. This is a deliberate difference from Perplexity, where search is always-on. Adjust your habit: mention 'search the web' or toggle it explicitly for research tasks.
Their feature → our equivalent (or an honest “we don’t”).
Nothing hidden, no lock-in.
Seven days to feel at home.
- DAY 1
Set up LADLE, migrate your AI Profile
20 minutes. Voice Guide is more work than Perplexity's AI Profile, but it pays back forever.
- DAY 2
Recreate one Space as a Project
Your most-used Space. Test with one research question.
- DAY 3
Do a research task with explicit search
Take one Q&A task you'd normally ask Perplexity and ask LADLE with 'Search the web and cite sources for:'. Compare citation quality.
- DAY 4-5
Rebuild remaining Spaces as Projects
By now you know which Spaces actually got used vs sat idle. Only rebuild the active ones.
- DAY 6
Decide
Perplexity is genuinely better for pure search-first workflows. LADLE is genuinely better for chat-first with occasional search. Decide honestly based on your last week's usage pattern.
- DAY 7
Cancel Perplexity if switching (or keep both if the workflows are distinct)
Some users find they need both — Perplexity for daily search research, LADLE for chat, writing, and code. $40/mo total; different products for different jobs.
- 10 meals/mo funded through WFP per subscription.
- Deeper chat interface — better for writing, code, long-form.
- Voice Guide precision beats Perplexity's AI Profile for tone control.
- Cited web search when you want it; conversation quality when you don't.
- Published open metrics and monthly receipts.
- Search is on-demand, not always-on. Habit change for Perplexity users.
- No Focus modes (Academic, Reddit, etc.) — you specify source preferences in the prompt.
- No Related Questions chips — you write the follow-up.
- No Perplexity Pages / shared research artifact format.
- If your primary use is search Q&A, Perplexity is genuinely the better tool.
Migration questions.
For pure search-first workflows, no — Perplexity is the better product and we say so. For workflows that are 70% chat / writing / code / analysis and 30% cited research, LADLE fits better because the chat interface is deeper. Honest self-assessment: what percentage of your Perplexity time is Q&A vs conversation?
Try LADLE for a week alongside Perplexity. Then decide.
7-day full refund if you don't switch. Meals fund from your first month either way.
